How FIBRACOL Plus Collagen Wound Dressing Works
Its unique combination of natural biopolymers combines the structural support of collagen and the gel-forming properties of alginates.
The result: a sterile, soft, absorbent and conformable topical wound dressing.
In the presence of wound fluid, FIBRACOL Plus Dressing helps maintain a physiologically moist microenvironment at the wound surface. This environment supports granulation tissue formation, epithelialization and rapid wound healing.
The unique combination of collagen and alginate is designed to address a wide range of indicated wound types and exudate levels.
How To Use FIBRACOL Dressing?
Dressing Preparation
Debride necrotic tissue before applying (if necessary)
Treat infection as per your facility protocol (if necessary)
Hydrate with saline for wounds with low or no exudate
How to apply Fibracol Plus Dressing?
Cut Fibrocol plus dressing to the size of the wound with scissors.
Apply directly to the wound, covering the entire bed. This dressing forms a gel on contact with exudate or through saline hydration.
Pack deep wounds loosely.
For minimally exudating wounds, apply to a moistened wound bed to initiate gel-forming process.
Cover with appropriate secondary dressing to maintain a moist wound healing environment.
Dressing Removal
After gently removing the secondary dressing, lift any FIBRACOL Plus Dressing that has not formed a gel and discard. Using normal saline, gently irrigate the wound to remove any residual gel.
Precautions
FIBRACOL Plus Dressing may be used when visible signs of infection are present in the wound area only when proper medical treatment addresses the underlying cause.
FIBRACOL Plus Dressing may be used under compression therapy with healthcare professional supervision.
Contraindications
FIBRACOL Plus is not indicated for wounds with active vasculitis, third-degree burns, or patients with known sensitivity to collagen or alginates.
Adverse Reactions
FIBRACOL Plus should not be used on patients with known sensitivities to collagen or alginates. Discontinue use if signs of sensitivity appear.
