    Description

    Ruma convent Sisters Precious Blood btw Redbud Evansville IL Illinois.
    The convent was started in 1876.  Five sisters from the Ruma Convent were massacred in Liberia in 1992, and a large sculpture to honor them was erected on the convent grounds.  This postcard was published by the sisters themselves, and the printer was in Germany, where they came from.  These German-made postcards were known to be of the highest quality and image clarity, but importation of them had to stop in 1915 when WWI became problematic.  This vintage postcard is in excellent condition.
